Our FDR’s Hyde Park, New York Tour is designed for those who wish to visit the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt National Historic Sites. The home of FDR, ‘Springwood’, was his beloved lifelong home. Within the 300-acre site is the first Presidential Library and Museum. Nearby, we can also visit the Vanderbilt Mansion, Eleanor Roosevelt’s National Historic Site ‘Val-Kill’, FDR’s ‘Top Cottage’ and if you wish, the Culinary Institute of America (CIA).Historic Hyde Park, New York is a town located 90 miles north of New York City in Dutchess County, New York, within the beautiful Hudson Valley. The town is most famous for being the hometown of U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.Another stop on our Hyde Park tour could be the Vanderbilt Mansion.
This 1896, 54-room “cottage” is a remarkable example of the gilded-age Beaux-arts country place. Fully furnished with period pieces on 211 acres of gardens and woods.

The small cottage and the main building at Val-Kill was originally the Val-Kill furniture factory later converted into ER’s home. A must see on it’s gorgeous wooded acres.Did you know that ‘Val-Kill’ is Dutch for valley stream?Not far from the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt National Historic Sites is the Culinary Institute of America. The CIA, founded in 1946, is a non-profit culinary college located in Hyde Park. Not only is it one of America’s great culinary colleges but it houses five restaurants. Depending on the day and time, these restaurants are available for lunching and dining.

Our tours are all about you, Hyde Park and New York City! This is usually a 7 – 9 hour tour, it all depends on how many of the sites you’d like to visit. Hyde Park is approximately 90 minutes north of Manhattan.Some of our guests have requested to include a tour of the West Point Military Academy, while on the Hyde Park tour. Combining West Point with most of the stops on this Tour could be a 9 – 11 hour day.We can customize your tour north of Manhattan for you.
